Work Experience! :O

This week was a stressful week, we had work experience on Wednesday, and we also have to keep up the Fun Walk Dance.

On Monday we tried to come up with a dance...we weren't so successful but we chose our song. Tuesday, just before we finished school we had a talk about our Work Experience and how we should act and how we should present ourselves.

Wednesday came quicker than I expected as when I woke up, I had breakfast then got my clothes out for Work Experience, which we're black trousers and a white shirt and my blazer, I had a small bag with a small bar and head phones (which I did not use).

But anyway when I got to Finnstown Hotel, my supervisor wasn't actually there, he was at the National Ploughing Championship's, so I got another supervisor called Emel, she's was really nice and asked if I wanted a drink or anything like that. I got taken up to the offices and got jobs to do.

I helped with Wedding brochures and I created a data base, for some clients. I started work around 8:30 and had lunch (which I got to order from the hotel and got any drink) at 1:45, which was nice, we all sat around at a table, Emel, Ann Marie, Richard, Mary and myself, all just eating what we ordered. I may have ordered just chips but next week I'll go for chicken.

I continued with the Wedding Brochures after lunch as I needed to put ribbon at the edges of the pages and put them in a folder along with Mary's number as she is the Wedding organizer. Overall I had a good day, it was nice seeing that a Hotel has an office, and where people usually sit and what happens in the office. I finished work at around 4:30 then headed home.

The rest of the week has been alright, although I am very tired, either I still am from Work Experience or I need to go to bed earlier.

Carlingford! x Workshops! and LOCKER'S!!

We had a pretty busy third week. This is all that happened!

 Monday

I set my alarm for about six for Monday morning, not very nice waking up that early but anyway I was up. I made sure everything was packed...including sweets.

When I got to the petrol station, at around 6:45, no teacher's were there, no buses...I honestly thought I was in the wrong place but I saw one of my friend's in her car, so I just stayed. Eventually the buses and teacher's showed up at seven, and we all got on the bus for the long two hour journey, in fairness, I wasn't even that tired.

When we got there, we walked though the most adorable street, it was small and all I could think was, "This is the Irish Diagon Alley"- (Harry Potter reference). I actually knew one of the instructors there, her name was Erin, she's from Kildare too actually. When I walked past we said our hello's then our year just sat down in the volleyball court and we got sorted into our rooms, luckily, I was with my friends, in a room of four.

You should have seen the amount of sweets we had in our room, we could have lasted the week, if we were allowed. We got called down over the intercom, we were told to bring our suimsuits and old shoes. We walked down to do water sports, we got into groups of two and got ready to go on our boat's. I was with my friend Serena, yet when we had to pull the boat down to the water...I dragged it all the way down, she said she wasn't strong enough...anyway, when we got to the little beach we played a couple of games, then went back, I pulled the boat back up-again- It really hurts your arms, and shoulders.

After that, we had lunch and got changed into warm clothes and found out our next activity-which was my favourite- we pulled a camunsie ( a onesie with a camouflage design) over our clothes and hiked up a hill with heavy guns and got to play lazer tag. It was amazing, and so fun, our instructor- well our team leader-Martin- who was funny and had amazing inspirational quotes for every game we played and had little tricks for us to win. My favourite quote was "You miss 100% of the shots you never take".

After that we had dinner-went shopping, bought sweets (well more sweets) and then did NightLine- which we got blindfolded and had to rely on the person infront of us and the rope that was there. People screamed in your ear, had weird noises, tickled your nose, poked you...trying to make you scream-which I did not. Our instructors- Teddy and Keith we're fun. Keith would sing random songs and play music and Teddy had a Scottish accent.

When we got back to our room we pigged out on food, and eventually found plugs-they we're hidden by the mattresses-I asked for an alarm to be set for seven so I could get up dressed and pack my bag...which I did.

Tuesday

We went back out to the sea and went in about three boats tied together, which fit about 12 people and set out again, we went out to a pontoon and jumped into the cold, salty water and got lifted back up. Our instructors, Lilly and Edel made us do a fashion walk and a pose into the water and come back up with the pose.

Peaches came over in his speedboat and gave six of us-at a time a ride to the trampoline where we got to bounce around then jump in and swim back over to the pontoon. We set sail again to another beach and went into the "Magical Tunnel". That was interesting...

After lunch we headed out again to the challenge center and got back into groups, we we're with Edel again and we got gems for each challenge we completed-our team came second with 10 gems- I hated the fact that, that was our last activity. But I enjoyed it so much.

Our instructors ( the ones I thought was funny)-well the ones I remember-we're ( this is all of them, not just the ones who did water sports) Martin (inspirational speaker), Teddy and Keith (funny), Edel, Erin, Lilly, Dave, Peaches, Pip and Connor (The Ed Sheeran of the group) we're awesome.

I wish we had more time there though, I had a lot of fun there so. The ride home, I feel asleep on my friend's shoulder, then moved after awhile. I made her shoulder sore...oops.

When I got home, I ate dinner, unpacked and feel into bed. I was so tired.

Wednesday

We had Workshops, our first one was all about Work Experience and what to expect...which is next week so, I'm not nervous at all...

Our next one was called " A Life without Limits" I think...we learned about our personalities and what colour/group we we're in, I placed in The Mediator, which was Green, which also meant I was loyal like a dog...well that's what the picture showed.

Our last one was to do with Make-Up, Tans, and Nail care, we learned what not to do with our tan, how to stop it from being all splochy. We also learned, our face shape, if we we're cold or warm skin coloured, I was a heart-shaped, and a square shape and I was a cool/ cold skin tone. We then learned how to do a natural look with our make-up. We also painted our nails and learned about the different shapes they can be.

Thursday

Well I was absent that day but our year went to Maynooth for our Mini Company, I got handed a book as soon as I came in today about it, so it looks interesting.

Friday

We have classes as usual, nothing really happened, except we got our LOCKER'S! Finally, and we also decided what to do for our Fun Walk, well we have an idea.

Results Week! :O

I hate to say that I wasn't ready to get my results back at all. But I'm sure that on Monday, I didn't think about it, I just forgot about it and went on my favourite websites, like Face book (of course), You tube and yes I'm kinda a nerd, Potter more.

Tuesday, I could feel the tension and I could feel the nerves but didn't really dwell on the thought until my Mom said, I didn't have to go to training for Gaelic if I didn't want too because of the results, thanks Mom for making me remember, I was hoping for, you know, wake up on Wednesday and be like "Oh yeah I can go in at 11:50 for my results", but being reminded a lot wasn't the best, even in school you could see some people looking nervous.

Wednesday was the worst, I was hoping that I would be okay and wouldn't get any nerves but I was so wrong...so wrong. I was absolutley terrified. It was weird waking up late then getting dressed for a little over half an hour just to get handed a brown envelope and just, walk out of there...since my name was first in my old base class-Amber-I got my envelope first and walked out of there with another student and walked to my Mom, handed her the envelope and just walked to the car.

After I got over my results, which I did good in I went to Costa to meet up with Serena and had a drink and a muffin but I couldn't eat even a quarter of the muffin, I was still in shock of my results, I felt like I couldn't eat anything for ages, I got my results at 12, ate at like 10 that morning and had nothing until at least 4 in the evening I was that bad.

But after that I went to my friend's,Gen's house for a small party and I never had so much fun, we sang, danced, all of that we did badly, I was pretty hyper by the end of the night. I don't think I slept until maybe one in the morning and got up at 6:45 as I usually do.

Thursday, everyone and I mean everyone was so tired the teacher's didn't bother to really try, it was kind of pointless, some people looked like zombies, I did feel kind of bad, but I was wrecked anyway.

First Week Of T.Y.

My first week of T.Y.  was eventful. We had workshops on Wednesday, we got into our class, got confused about our options...a lot. I got sorted in class Belle, yeah we're named after princess, always dreamed of being one, not being in one. Some of my friends are in my class so it's a bonus.

Our workshops, well our first one was positive parties. We got lollipops and a lei's, the workshop was set to help us be positive about ourselves and just be us really. I spent a lot of time laughing and dancing. It was like a bonding exercise with our class, where we heard about the happiest moment of our lives, and learned how to think of them if we ever get nervous before an interview, class presentation or for me football matches. We danced to a couple of songs, one of my favourites actually by 'Olly Murs'.

Our next workshop was First Aid. I already knew some of the stuff we learned. like CPR and what to do if someone toke an overdose of pills or tablets. We learned how to bandage your hand up if you got burned or cut, by practicing on each other. I had fun wrapping my friend Serena's hand up. Our teacher Gary was funny and had great video's for us to look at.

Our final workshop was...different and fun. We started by being in groups and wrote down a fact about ourselves that no one else would know, then we chose one and everyone else had to guess who it was. It was funny seeing everyone's facts. Later we learned about the right clothes and underwear we should be wearing and before we got to our hands feeling so smooth and smelling like lemons, we learned how to walk in heels and how to walk with confidence down a red carpet, sadly no celebrities were there. When we went back into the room we got our hands, cleansed in a type of cream and they all smelled different and when we washed them with water, the felt so soft and smooth, it was amazing and when we used hand cream, it was even more amazing.

We ended up with an eventful week in the end and I remember walking around, not knowing where I was supposed to be and then found out I was supposed to be in Art on Thursday...I can't draw at all, I'm terrible at it, we are drawing leaves from now on, I sat in between my friends, one in my base class-Emily, and Laura in another base class. Laura and I can just about draw while Emily is this amazing artist.

Friday was okay, we found out who we had as our teachers and the rest of options, thankfully. I liked Friday mostly because it was a Friday and I could sleep but Fridays we watch a movie in Spanish so, it's a bonus.

I enjoyed my first week and when we went back in on Monday we cut out teddy bear templates for our bear in Home Ec, we also had History which I love. We also had double P.E., main problem is that not everyone likes doing sports, even though I do, double P.E. with our tutor is also different. We went on skateboards, balanced on benches walking up them with another six or five girls in front, without falling, it was like a weird trust exercise in the end.

I enjoyed my first week of school but wasn't ready for our results week in any possible way.
